Current Favourites - Makeup

Tuesday, 3 October 2017

I honestly cannot remember the last time I did a makeup post. I just have been focusing more on my skin. After all, skin is far more important than makeup, am I right? But, sometimes us girls just gotta wear some quality makeup either to hide imperfections or just wanting to look prettier and more presentable. So, this week, I'm showing you my current favourite makeup that I literally have been wearing for the past 2 months so if you are looking for clean makeup products that work then keep on reading.

I'll start with foundations. I have talked about the Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation in Just Sheer before, and it is one of the most gorgeous all natural foundations I have ever tried, but the shade is actually a tad darker for me at the moment so I purchased Silken which is a shade lighter with a strong yellow undertone in the Refill packaging, so what I have been doing is apply Silken in the centre of my face and Just Sheer on the outer part then blend in the two together with Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, and the finish is flawless! I love this foundation, I love the effect, the formula, the ingredients, and the gorgeous shiny refillable packaging. Now, this foundation has a dewy finish with medium to full coverage so it's good for normal to dry skin peeps, but if you have oily skin, the 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation would probably suit you the best.

I bought it this summer because the Kjaer Weis one just felt "thick". I needed something light both in texture and coverage and this one makes the cut. It has a gel to lotion consistency which feels so comfortable like I'm wearing nothing. The coverage is pretty decent, light to medium depends on how you apply it, but it dries pretty quickly so you have to blend fast. I prefer using a slightly damped sponge as it gives a nice even application. The only problem with this one is the limited shade range. It has only 3 colours to choose from so it's hard to get your "perfect" match. I went with White Peach which is for light to medium skin with warm undertones. It's actually a little pale for me but I can make it work with a bronzer afterwards.

The best thing about this foundation is that it is 100% natural with pure fruit pigments. Seriously how cool is that?! "Sadly", it has to be used up within 6 months once it's opened as it contains zero preservatives. This truly qualifies for clean makeup, and I love that it comes with a pump, way more hygienic than dipping my sponge in a pan packaging, like the KW one.

As for setting my foundation, the Lily Lolo Mineral Finishing Powder in Translucent Silk is one of the best I've tried. It's so finely milled, feels like a cream, just melts into the skin, and gives a gorgeous flawless finish. It has a little sheen when swatched but on the skin, it just looks natural and healthy. If you have dry skin, this powder is for you! Again this one is free from all the nasties like fragrance, fillers, talc etc. so if you love green beauty, you'll love this one!

Since I got into green beauty, I have been really enjoying minimal eye makeup look. I literally wear nothing on my eyes most days but if I feel particularly fancy I'd use this Lily Lolo Laid Bare Eye Palette. It is a beautiful 8 pan eyeshadow palette with all wearable neutral shades. You can use it for work, for night outs, special occasions, and the formula is really amazing considering this is an all natural eyeshadow palette.

They are all pretty pigmented and very creamy, last quite well throughout the day with a primer, and it comes with a duo ended sponge applicator for on-the-go touchups.

For me, the most important thing about makeup is a healthy, glowy complexion, even without any eye makeup, you'd still look fresh and youthful. So for my cheeks, I have been loving the Lily Lolo Cheek Duo in Coralista. I know a lot of the makeup I'm showing today is from Lily Lolo but this brand just makes some of the best natural makeup products with a reasonable price.

Again, these powders just feel like creams, so soft and easy to blend. I love the coral blusher which makes me look fresh and awake. As for the highlighter, it is a gorgeous golden champagne colour that is not too over the top, it just makes the skin look healthy and glowy in the best way possible. This duo would look good on all skin tones.

Another blusher I have been loving is the Dior Diorific Matte Fluid Lip & Cheek Velvet Colour. Now, this is not a clean beauty product by no means but I just want to show you how good this stuff is. It is, without a doubt, the best liquid/cream blusher I have ever tried. It's a terrible a lip stain let me tell ya, but on the cheeks, it's another story. It gives a natural flush from the within look. I'm so in love with it but the problem is that it is a limited edition product (sob sob). This is in the shade 003 Treasure, a beautiful, subtle mauve pink.

When it comes to lipsticks, nothing comes even near as gorgeous as Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. It is the best matte red lipstick in the world. Again, this is not clean makeup but I have yet found another lipstick that works as well as this one, and the colour is... ... Well, I have no words. It's everyone's favourite for a reason. If you wear nothing on the eyes, a pretty red lip would make the whole face look much chicer and more put together. Cruella is my go-to reds!

So that's it, these are my current favourite makeup products. I hope you have found something good for your makeup wardrobe. Next week on elainesbeautyreviews.com I will be showing you my favourite body, hair and lip products so stay tuned...
