My Current Skincare Routine

Monday, 10 April 2017

I think I haven't done a step by step skincare routine in a really long time so today I want to share with you all my current skincare routine featuring a couple of newbies that are actually really good for dry and sensitive skin. I have pretty normal skin most of the time but when the weather changes my skin just freaks out and reacts really badly. It becomes dry, sensitive, red and sometimes irritated so if you have the same skin type as I do or you just suffer from dry/sensitive skin in general then stay with me. This routine will sort it out! I swear!

Let's start with cleansing, obviously! I've recently started using Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm again. You guys know how much I love this cleanser. It is my all time favourite cleansing balm. I've stopped using it for a while because I'm always trying new things but I've missed it, missed it so much so I just had to use it again. IT NEVER FAILS! It takes off makeup effortlessly, it soothes, and it smells amazing. Huge love for this one. If I'm wearing makeup, I cleanse my skin twice with this just to make sure everything's off.

Then I move onto toner which is another old favourite - Pixi Glow Tonic. I've gone through several bottles of it and, still love it. It hydrates plus you get a gentle exfoliation without irritating the skin so what's not to like!

As for serums, I prefer oil based serums because they are much more hydrating, nourishing, and soothing. I mix 3 drops of Dr. Dennis Gross Triple C-Peptide Firming Serum and 2 drops of Sunday Riley Artemis on days when my skin is dry. Artemis on its own can be very thick and hard to spread, and Triple C although is very easy to absorb, not as moisturising as I've hoped so by mixing the two together I get the perfect hydrating/anti ageing serum.

When my skin is sensitive, red or irritated because of the weather change, I use this Skin Rescue Balm by HerbFarmacy. It is 100% natural, and it soothes irritated skin almost instantly. I love this stuff. It sinks in fast, smells natural, and I just love how it makes my skin feel. Seriously guys if you have sensitive skin YOU NEED IT!

For eye cream, I have been using the Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic+Retinol Eye Cream for the past month, and let me tell you this is probably the only product that I've tried from Dr. DG that I don't actually care for. It does nothing to my eyes. It does not brighten, it doesn't help with fine lines, and the most I dislike about it is that it doesn't hydrate. My eyes actually feel dry afterwards which is bizarre. It has this velvety texture, kind of like a primer if you will but that's about it. Not a fan if I'm honest but while I'm trying to find another eye cream I'll keep using it just so I don't completely throw 59 pounds out of the window.

To seal everything in, I use First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream which is the most ordinary face cream in the market but it just works. It hydrates without being greasy nor irritating my skin. This is suitable for all skin types especially for those who suffer from sensitive skin as it contains 0 fragrance. This is the biggest size they do I believe and look how much I've gone through already! love it!

The last step of my skincare routine is lips. Yep! You've guessed it! Nuxe Reve De Miel. My all time favourite lip balm. Smells gorgeous and works like a magic!

When the weather changes I throw in a soothing face mask in my skincare routine just for that extra little something. I've recently purchased the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Treatment Mask and oh my god, how come I haven't tried it earlier?! I love the fact that it really soothes my skin while providing the moisture I need. A really simple face mask but it works above and beyond. It is also great for blemish prone skin because it doesn't irritate but manage to keep your spots at bay.

It has a lotion to cream texture, very easy to apply, and sinks in immediately plus it smells heavenly like lemons which I love. I use it twice a week or whenever I feel my skin is irritated or red. Ohh have I mentioned it is all natural?!

So yes, 6 simple steps plus one extra treat which might seem a lot but I swear it takes only 5 minutes tops to complete the whole routine each time. As for the mask, I normally leave it on for as long as I could or 15 minutes if I'm in a hurry. That's it. I hope you have enjoyed my current skincare routine. Got Qs? Leave them below!
